McKinney Fire Chief Danny Kistner announced Monday that Battalion Chief Dwayne Henderson has been named Fire Marshal for the City of McKinney. Henderson has served as interim Fire Marshal since May 2012.
After joining the McKinney Fire Department in 1996, Henderson was promoted through the ranks to the position of Battalion Chief in charge of Planning and Development. He holds certifications through the State of Texas as a Master Firefighter, Intermediate Instructor, Basic Inspector, Hazardous Materials Technician and is a licensed Paramedic. Henderson is married and has three children.
“Chief Henderson has done an outstanding job as interim Fire Marshal," said Kistner. "He has reviewed operations and processes within the office, evaluated programs and responsibilities of personnel within the operation and implemented positive changes.
"He facilitated a smooth transition following the retirement of his predecessor, ensuring that our customers and citizens continue to receive the highest level of customer service -- and that life, safety and community risk reduction efforts remain the top priority of this area of Fire Department operations,” Kistner said.
Henderson is excited about his permanent appointment to the position.
“I appreciate the confidence that Chief Kistner has shown in my ability to manage this important area of fire department responsibilities," Henderson said. "Fire prevention through planning, engineering and technology affords us the chance to save property and lives. I look forward to the opportunities and challenges of my new position."
The McKinney Fire Department is committed to providing our citizens with the highest level of customer service through positive fire and life safety efforts, as well as emergency response.
