Texas Pediatric Dentistry is sponsoring a Halloween Candy Buy Back Event from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 at its offices, 3109 S. Custer Road in McKinney.
Members of the public are invited to bring their unopened Halloween candy to Texas Pediatric Dentistry to receive $1 per pound of candy per child. Each child is welcome to bring in up to five pounds of candy. Current patients and non-patients are welcome.
Texas Pediatric Dentistry has partnered with Operation Gratitude, and all Halloween candy will be turned over to the organization.
Operation Gratitude sends 100,000 care packages annually filled with snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in hostile regions, to their children left behind and to Wounded Warriors, Veterans and First Responders. Its mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member’s face and express to our Armed Forces the appreciation and support of the American people.
At Texas Pediatric Dentistry, those taking part in the Halloween Candy Buy Back Event are invited to sign cards for the troops and write them words of encouragement. The cards will be included in the care packages mailed to U.S. servicemen and women serving in foreign lands.
"What better way to accomplish so many things -- prevent cavities caused by candy, allow the children to contribute in their own way to the troops, and send a sweet reminder of home to our soldiers stationed overseas," said Dr. Tim Brister of Texas Pediatric Dentistry.
