Community LIfeline Center of McKinney has announced that it will be able to assist low-income or fixed-income families needing a window air-conditioning unit or a ceiling fan before the summer heat sets in. 

Thanks to an energy efficiency grant from TXU Energy, CLC will be able to provide and install various energy-efficient items, including weatherization kits, compact fluorescent light bulbs and box fans.

In addition, CLC can provide qualifying homeowners with 52-inch ceiling fans with lights or a window A/C unit (10.8 EER) to replace existing working or non-working units, said CLC Executive Director Christine Hockin-Boyd. The cost of these items will be free to qualifying households.

The following items must be displayed at CLC in order to quality to receive the energy-efficient items:

  • Photo ID
  • TXU Energy billing statement (current)
  • Proof of income
  • Mortgage statement or rental agreement
