The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will hold a public meeting on May 31, 2012, to gather comments about how TxDOT can better serve the transit needs of the elderly and those with disabilities in North Texas.

Residents of Collin County and other areas in North Texas are invited to the public meeting from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 31 at TxDOT's Dallas Room, 4777 E. Highway 80 in Mesquite.

Public transportation services for elderly individuals and individuals with disabilities in Collin, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Navarro, Rockwall and Dallas counties will be discussed. 

The goals of the public meeting is to:

  • Educate and inform people interested in public transportation
  • Promote discussions regarding the development of more cost-effective services that will improve the quality of transportation
  • Gather comments and suggestions that will help TxDOT better serve the transit needs of elderly individuals and individuals with disabilities

TxDOT’s mission is to “work with others to provide safe and reliable transportation solutions for Texas.”

Public participation is vital for TxDOT to better serve the needs and values of the public they serve. TxDOT officials urge area residents to attend the meeting and join the discussion.
