Collin College Continuing Education is debuting a series of new programs for fall 2012.

Included are a series of healthcare-related programs for professionals seeking to improve their skillsets and marketability.

The Certified Medication Aide program is ideal for certified nurse aides to increase their marketability. The 140-hour advanced certification training fills the requirements of the TX DADS.

Students in the program will learn to summarize the standardized drug legislation and resource references for drug pharmacodynamics, define the fundamental medical abbreviations, symbols, terminology, and common equivalents required for medication administration, describe the basic anatomy and physiology of each body system and the common diseases related to each system and more.

Individuals skilled in insurance coding are vital to the dental profession. In three weeks, dental professionals can gain coding skills specific to the dental profession in the nine-hour Coding for Dental Professionals course. 

Training is held from 6-9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13-27. The course fee is $119.

Students needing a refresher course of basic math skills necessary to perform as a pharmacy technician are encouraged to register for the new Math for Pharmacy Technicians. This four-session course meets from 6-9 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 18-27. The course fee is $69.

All courses meet at the Courtyard Center, 4800 Preston Park Blvd. in Plano.
