Have you visited the City of McKinney websites lately? If not, take a look. A lot has changed, not only on the City’s main website, but also on the sites for the Collin County Regional Airport, McKinney Community Development Corporation (MCDC), McKinney Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau (MCVB). Recent redevelopment has significantly upgraded McKinney’s online experience, and among all the sites, offers enhanced information and services whether you live in McKinney, work here or are planning a visit. There is even information if relocating your family or business to McKinney is in your future.
It’s no secret that over the years, the importance of the Internet as a way to interact has greatly increased. In late 2011, the City began to research alternatives to their current site to reduce costs, improving usability for residents, and simplifying the internal process of making information available online.
After an in-depth research process, CivicPlus was selected as the website vendor and was able to meet all three of the city’s goals. The redevelopment process began in early 2012 and included a brand new design, editing content on every page and a complete overhaul of how the City offers information online. The main site, McKinneyTexas.Org, and the airport site, FlyTKI.com, debuted in August 2012. The MEDC and MCVB sites followed in December.
The results have surpassed expectations. The designs of all the sites are aesthetically appealing, modern and easy to navigate. They feature the most requested and relevant information on the home pages with simple navigation to the rest of the site. Each site is compatible with mobile devices to accommodate visitors accessing information with a smart phone or tablet. The main site offers opportunities throughout to complete business with the City from the comfort of home at any hour.
