Chamber members Rob and Jennifer Spring, owners of The Spring Mortgage Team @ AmeriFirst Financial of Texas at 204 S. Kentucky St., share their business insights.

What inspired you to start your business?

Ultimately, we wanted the ability to provide knowledgeable service and fairly priced mortgage loans to the people of McKinney and the surrounding areas.

What services or products do you offer?

Residential mortgage loans to purchase refinance or renovate homes.

What is unique about your business?

We are a family office and treat our clients like family. There is a world of misinformation when it comes to mortgage and real estate. We think it is extremely important to make sure everyone we work with completely understands their options to make an informed financial decision.

How does your business give back to the community?

We love McKinney and have made downtown not only our office but also our home. We enjoy participating in and helping sponsor community events. Jennifer is very active with two separate organizations: the First United Methodist Church and Finch Elementary School. We helped sponsor a 2nd-grade class at Finch and Jennifer enjoys reading to the class and attending their field trips.

What obstacles did you have to overcome to get where are today?

Misinformation is the biggest obstacle we experience in the world of mortgage and real estate. Rules and regulations change quite often, as do interest rates and values. It is very important to work with a professional with a proven track record of success.

What methods have you used to grow your business?

We look to build new relationships with likeminded Agents in and around McKinney. We help those agents build and attract new clients from multiple channels.

What is the secret to keeping happy customers?

That’s an easy one. Answer the phone and tell the truth!

Who has been your greatest inspiration?

We are inspired by the families we help. It is a joy to help people with one of the biggest if not the biggest financial decision they’ll make.

What is your most/least favorite thing about your business?

We really enjoy helping families with such an important decision. Buying a home is very rewarding but it also comes with responsibilities. With our help, the families we work with understand fully the mortgage options available to them.

Where do you see your business going in the future?

I think technology advances within mortgage will continue to improve the client experience. Our team is the best of both worlds we harness the same technology as the big banks without all the overhead and we treat you like our own family.

To what do you attribute your success?

We’re successful because we close on time, deliver fairly priced loan options and keep everyone informed of during the process. Communication is the most important part of what we do.

How are you involved in the chamber and what is the effect on your business?

The chamber has been fantastic! Our ribbon cutting party was a blast. The introductions we’ve made through chamber events have helped us earn more business and we look forward to making many more.

What’s the best advice you would give a new chamber member to get the most out of their membership?

Get involved and do your best to get to know the staff at the chamber. They are all wonderful people and can help you make new connections.
