Chamber members Justin & Channa Jones, owners of 11/17, shares their business insights.

What inspired you to start your business?

After running and selling our restaurant in Brownwood, Texas for 15 years we believed that the west side of McKinney needed a great restaurant serving scratch made comfort food.

What services or products do you offer?

We create scratch made comfort food and spirits. We try to create a comfortable atmosphere that families can connect.

What is unique about your business?

We put a lot of time and effort into the food and service we provide. We also believe that the quality of products serve reign supreme.

How does your business give back to the community?

We try to give back to our community through fundraisers, donations etc. We really try to focus on children. They are our future. Without our amazing community, we would not be here.

What obstacles did you have to overcome to get where are today?

The business as well as life provide daily obstacles, but we just push through for our family and community.

What methods have you used to grow your business?

We use many different avenues of marketing, but nothing works better than word of mouth.

What is the secret to keeping happy customers?

Quality food and service is very important to keep customers happy. It is equally important that our customers understand that each of their experiences matters to us.

Who has been your greatest inspiration?

Obviously, our children keep us inspired to keep working to provide them with a bright future. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of Larry and Sherry Pierson and to make them proud. They were the owners of the restaurant in Lubbock I worked at during college and taught me all that I know about the business.

What is your most/least favorite thing about your business?

My favorite thing is the relationships that we are blessed to build with our staff and customers. My least favorite thing is the time away from my family.

Where do you see your business going in the future?

We look forward to building lasting relationships in our community and to provide food, beverages, and service that people can trust and depend on.

To what do you attribute your success?

I can attribute our success to the great people that have helped and taught us along the way and a whole lot of hard work.

How are you involved in the chamber and what is the effect on your business?

We are not as involved as we would like to be. Being in the restaurant business and open 7 days a week we rarely get to participate as much as would like.

What’s the best advice you would give a new chamber member to get the most out of their membership?

Being involved in events and networking is very important. Use the chamber to support your business and be involved in this great community.
