McKINNEY (June 3, 2013) – On May 22, more than 60 runners answered the call to meet outside Cadillac Pizza Pub in McKinney to set out on the first “Caddy Run.” Since that time, the weekly event has become a popular social tradition. Running enthusiasts of all levels have begun meeting at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday outside “The Caddy” before embarking on a 2-3 mile route through Historic Downtown McKinney.

This week’s Caddy Run is of particular significance because it falls on the first Wednesday of June, a date annually designated as National Running Day – when runners across the country, regardless of their speed or endurance, come together to share their passion for running.

In this case, runners will be celebrating not only their passion for running, but also their passion for great pizza in a unique environment.

“We want this Wednesday to be our best turnout to date, so we decided to add half-price pizzas to our weekly Caddy Run specials,” said Tony Smith, partner of {33} Restaurant Group and co-owner of Cadillac Pizza Pub. “We’ve really been pleased by the response we’ve gotten to our weekly runs, and hope even more of our friends around McKinney and neighboring towns will come on out and join us on National Running Day.”

After each weekly run, Cadillac Pizza Pub, recently crowned runner-up in The Dallas Morning News’ “Best Pizza in DFW” competition, offers participants a place to cool down and relax while enjoying refreshments and delicious food. In addition to Happy Hour specials, the pub provides free bottled water to the runners as well as “Caddy Run” specials, including $2 16-oz. beers, $3.75 22-oz. beers and a $1 up-charge for their rotating IPA.

The Caddy Run is open to the public, requires no registration, and includes runners and walkers of every age and fitness level. For more information, visit the Facebook page facebook.com/cadillacpizzapub.
