On Monday, June 30, Baylor Medical Center at McKinney celebrated the expansion of its Emergency Department. The McKinney Chamber of Commerce was on hand for the Emergency Department Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

Though no one wants to end up in the ER, it’s comforting to know that if you do, you’ll be in good hands at Baylor McKinney. The hospital’s newly expanded emergency department doubles the existing space and adds 12 beds. The expansion also features larger trauma bays and a fast-track area to expedite care for patients with less serious conditions.

“The new ER features flexible space, which enhances our ability to provide safe, quality and compassionate care by allowing our team of providers to get to patients more quickly, and improves the overall patient experience,” says Scott Peek, President of Baylor McKinney.

The ER expansion and additional staffing also helps ensure that patients are seen as quickly as possible upon their arrival. But Peek says the expansion goes far beyond getting patients to see a physician more quickly. “It also improves our ability to provide quality care by allowing us to dedicate space to a wide range of patient needs, from our sickest, most acute patients to those who can be treated efficiently in our fast-track area.”
