PLANO — Mike Brodie, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty and Past President of the Collin County Association of Realtors (CCAR), recently received one of the National Association of Realtors’ (NAR) highest honors – the Distinguished Service Award. Given at NAR’s recent Realtor Party Convention in Washington, D.C., the award places Brodie among a select few to have received such an honor.

“Mike is truly deserving of this award,” says Mary Leidy, CCAR Chief Executive Officer. “His commitment to the real estate industry and the rights of private property owners is unwavering. Not only has he pledged his time and service to our industry at all levels for many years, but he is a true advocate for our community and its residents.”

According to NAR, the Distinguished Service Award is the ultimate recognition for the dedicated Realtor who has always set themselves apart as a leader. Only those Realtors who have shown exceptional service for at least 25 years, performed in leadership positions at all levels of the Realtor organization, and have had extraordinary political involvement in the Realtor organization and in their local community, are eligible to receive the award.

Brodie, who has been a real estate agent for more than 40 years, currently sits on the Board of Directors for NAR, the Texas Association of Realtors, CCAR, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business. In addition, he was appointed to the Texas Real Estate Commission by then Governor George W. Bush, and served on that committee for seven years, including serving as the chairperson.

“I am incredibly honored to be included in the company of many legends in our industry,” says Brodie. “When I started out in real estate, I just wanted to help people buy and sell homes. What I found was that I was actually helping people build lives, while at the same time I was building a rewarding life for myself and my family.  I can think of no other industry that creates more joy and prosperity as this one. People ask me when I’m going to retire and I tell them that retirement means that a person can wake up at whatever time he wants, spend time with people he likes and do whatever he wants. I already get to do that!”

Brodie is currently an ambassador for Keller Williams International, and oversaw the launch of KW Luxury Homes. He is the co-founder of the Keller Williams Preston Road office in Dallas, co-owner of the Plano office, co-owner of the Northern California/Hawaii regional offices, and co-owner and managing partner of the Maryland/Washington D.C. regional offices.
