YMCA Summer Camps

The YMCA offers weekly summer day camps at most locations June 4 through Aug. 24. Ages 5-12 (Preschool camps (3-5 years) available at the Coppell and White Rock locations). From 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Registration available on www.ymcadallas.org .

Lil’ Eagle Cheer Camp

Prosper High School Cheerleaders are hosting the annual cheer camp. Aug. 8 to 10. K-3rd grade from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. 4th-6th grade from 7:30pm-9:00pm. Total cost $40, $30 per additional child in family. To register, contact Christine.wylot@gmail.com  by June 29.

Eagle Basketball Camp

Prosper Boys Basketball program is offering a four day skills camp at the Prosper High School Arena. June 4th-7th. K-5th grade 8:00am-10:30am. 6th-9th grade 12:00pm-2:30pm. $75 per camper, $50 each additional sibling. Registration 30 minutes prior to start of camp. Texas Legends Youth Basketball Camp

City of McKinney Swim School

The City of McKinney Swim School offers a program suited for all ages. The city is committed to providing swim lessons that build confidence and teach water safety skills in a safe environment for you and your child with quality instruction. Each session meets eight times. Please refer to the current activity guide for class times and locations.

Nature and Animals

SPCA of Texas “Critter Camp”

Water Wonders Family Fun Mini-Camp at Heard Natural Science Museum - Offered Wednesday, June 6 or Thursday, July 5

Looking for something to do as a family? Our family oriented mini-camps are just for you! Designed for kids and adults to attend together, each mini-camp will explore a different topic and includes indoor and outdoor activities.  In Water Wonders Family Fun Mini-Camp, take a hike through our wetlands and spend some time using nets to see what you can catch in and around the water. Use hand lenses and microscopes to find out what lives in a drop of water.  This camp is designed for ages 4 years to adult. Children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. Each adult may be accompanied by up to 4 children. This program is not suitable for children 3 years and under.

Rockin’ Rocks & Fossils Family Fun Mini-Camp at Heard Natural Science Museum  - Offered Thursday, June 7 or Thursday, July 6

Designed for kids and adults to attend together, each mini-camp will explore a different topic and includes indoor and outdoor activities.  In Rockin’ Rocks & Fossils Family Fun Mini-Camp, discover which rock and minerals are used to make common manmade items. Look at and touch rocks from the three rock families. Find out about how fossils are made, some local geological history, and go on a real fossil hunt. This camp is designed for ages 4 years to adult. Children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. Each adult may be accompanied by up to 4 children. This program is not suitable for children 3 years and under.

Art & Nature Family Fun Mini-Camp at Heard Natural Science Museum  - Offered Friday, June 8 or Tuesday, July 3

Looking for something to do as a family? Our family oriented mini-camps are just for you! Designed for kids and adults to attend together, each mini-camp will explore a different topic and includes indoor and outdoor activities.  Using the outdoors as inspiration, start a nature journal and learn some simple sketching and journaling techniques suitable for kids and adults of any level. No previous art experience required. This camp is designed for ages 4 years to adult. Children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. Each adult may be accompanied by up to 4 children. This program is not suitable for children 3 years and under.

Camp Lemur: Summer Nature Camp at Heard Natural Science Museum  - June 11-5 or June 18-22

Heard Summer Nature Camps will feature opportunities to delve into the wonders of nature on our 289-acre sanctuary, encounter animal ambassadors, and investigate nature-themed topics.  Campers aged 5-12 years have two different themed nature camps, Camp Lemur and Camp Macaw, to pick from — experience one or both camps for a variety of age-appropriate lessons and activities. Topics include: Leapin’ Lemurs lemurs and other animals that jump & swing; Madagascar Magic discover who lives on this fascinating island; Sea Life discover who makes the ocean their home; Dinosaur Detectives explore pre-historic life in Texas and beyond; Terrific Turtles all about turtles and their amphibian cousins; plus the ever popular Eco-games.

Nature Art Camp at the Heard - June 25-29 or July 23-27

Young artists will follow in the footsteps of great artists such as Audubon and Monet with unique opportunities to draw directly from nature and live animals. No experience required. Art supplies included.

Camp Macaw: Summer Nature Camp at Heard Natural Science Museum  - July 9-13 or July 16-20

Heard Summer Nature Camps will feature opportunities to delve into the wonders of nature on our 289-acre sanctuary, encounter animal ambassadors, and investigate nature-themed topics.  Campers aged 5-12 years have two different themed nature camps, Camp Lemur and Camp Macaw, to pick from — experience one or both camps for a variety of age-appropriate lessons and activities. Topics include: Birds of a Feather Macaws and other birds from around the world; Jungle Adventure explore the wonders of the rainforest; Super Snakes study these amazing legless animals; Wetland Wonders get up close and person with our wetlands; Insect-igation insects and their arthropod cousins; and, of course, classic camp Eco-games.

Carry Along Collin – Blackland Prairie Wildlife Camp at Heard Natural Science Museum  – July 11
Enjoy a 45-minute animal talk, focusing on wildlife from prairie country.  Then check out the indoor Animal Superheroes exhibit, outdoor Native Texas Butterfly House & Garden and Animals of the World exhibit.  Sponsored by the Collin County Historical Commission.

Keeper Camp 2 at Heard Natural Science Museum - July 23-27

Continue your adventure and discover even more about taking care of animals and enriching the lives of our animal ambassadors. Prerequisite: must have attended Keeper Camp 1 or a previous Animal Adventure Camp.
