McKinney Main Street invites you to come out Halloween evening and enjoy the sights of hundreds of ghosts and goblins young and old in Historic Downtown McKinney. This annual event has grown to hundreds of trick or treaters enjoying treats and interactive activities to celebrate a safe, secure family fun Halloween event.
Enjoy a “Be Green on Halloween” Costume Contest showcasing home-made costumes, a Pumpkin Patch, the McTown Clowns performing at MPAC and give back with 3e for a canned food drive for the McKinney Food Pantry and much more.

Hauntingly Good Time at Storybook Ranch
- The fun runs Sunday through Friday through Wednesday, Oct. 31.
- Storybook Ranch, Custer Road in McKinney
The Pumpkin Patch is a fun-filled experience for the whole family. Hours are Sun-Fri. 10 a.m. to sundown and Sat. 9 a.m. to sundown. Costs are $15 per child; groups of 20 or more $12 per child. Parents and children under 2 are free. These times and rates are for daytime admission.
Evenings at Ghost Ranch are for the more adventurous, with a chilling nighttime Haunted Hay Ride. Not for the faint of heart, this tour features narrations about zombies, people rising from the dead, ghouls, witches and vampires. It also includes the historic Ghost Town and all kind of scary things that go BOO in the night. The goblins came out to play on Sept. 27 and will continue to play until Oct. 31 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The fun begins at sundown and will last until 10:30 p.m.
2012 Legends of McKinney Ghost Walk
- The last of two shivery nights is set for 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.
- Historic Downtown McKinney
This is a self-guided, self-paced Ghost Walk throughout Chestnut Square Historic Village and the downtown McKinney Square. Ticket booklets provide maps of the sites and storytellers at each site share the legends! Once you have your ticket booklet you can map out your route with stops in between for fun and food! Ticket booklets and wrist bands are available at Chestnut Square Historic Village and the McKinney Performing Arts Center.
Texas Paranormal Research will share their investigation results from some of the sites on the Ghost Walk in a special movie presentation at the McKinney Performing Arts Center! Civil War soldiers will share ghost stories around a camp fire next to the Two-Bit Taylor Inn at Chestnut Square.
New in 2012: Take a haunted trolley ride to Finch Park! Learn the spooky history of this city park -- once the site of battles with Qauntrille's Raiders during the Cvil War. Your guide will share stories of Finch Park's history and hauntings! The haunted trolley ride to Finch Park is $5 for adults and children.
Scare Away Hunger Food Drive
- Oct. 31 through Nov. 4.
- Your neighborhood or wherever you are celebrating Halloween.
Scare Away Hunger takes Halloween “trick or treating” and turns it into a missional endeavor for the Kingdom of God. You can pick up door hangers to pass out in your neighborhood and then on Halloween, pick up food as you go door to door. Bring all donations to Christ Fellowship Church the following Sunday and church officials will ensure they arrive at the food pantry.
Tucker Hill Pumpkinville
- Tucker Hill Pumpkinville is set for Oct. 17-31, and will benefit McKinney Christian Academy.
- Located in Tucker Hill, a traditional neighborhood development, 7270 W. University Drive, McKinney, 75071. Open Monday -Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 pm; Sundays 1:30 to 5 p.m.
Free weekday activities include toddler-sized hay maze, games, vintage farm equipment exhibit, pumpkin decorating, picnicking, fall decor throughout neighborhood, and photo areas. Free weekend activities feature a hay ride, KLAK live remote, bake sale, garden tours & pumpkin container gardening demonstrations, pumpkin carving, concert on the lawn, story teller, contests and more.
Pre-K Pumpkin Patch
- Oct. 2 through Oct. 26, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Collin and McKinney, the Chestnut Square goats, and Chester the cat invite Pre-K and Kindergarteners to a Historic McKinney Pumpkin Patch. Call 972-562-8790 and schedule your time to enjoy developmentally appropriate activities, pet the goats, taste freshly churned butter, get your face painted and take home your own pumpkin.
