McKinney Repertory Theatre (MRT) presents their annual melodrama, this year “The Face on the Barroom Floor (or Glimpsed Through the Sawdust)” July 27 – August 11, 2018 in the Courtroom Theatre at the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC). Performance times are 8 p.m. on July 27, 28, August 3, 4, 10 and 11 with a matinee at 3:00 p.m. Sundays, July 29 and August 5, and Saturday, August 11.
This year’s melodrama, written by Tim Kelly, centers around the lovely Madelaine Mockingbird (TammyVenable), a chambermaid turned singer, and former painter turned tramp, Jack “Toulouse” Goodheart(Ken Schwartz). Unfortunately, Roderick Rodent (Aaron Adair), endeavors to separate Madelaine from the fortune left her by an old miner and from her true love, Jack. Deception and heroics ensue as the rest of the townspeople and travelers get involved in the action.
Well-known director, Stan Kelly, has assembled a cast of local favorites as well as many new faces in this family-friendly, popcorn throwin’, booin’ and hissin’, old-timey comedy. Debs Clark portrays Annie Quackenbush, Kasey Bush plays Bella Yukon, Jessie Johnson give his interpretation of Dusty Rhodes, Steve Koonce portrays Chick Dogtemper, Doug Latham plays Herbie Rainwater, Stephanie Ludlow Kelly portrays Mrs. Van Clive, Aurea Coral plays Little Gloria, Lesley Stone is Fatima, Deborah Barrax gives her interpretation of Theda Swansong, Frank Lewis is Judge Fleesum and Judy Lewis is the Mysterious Lady.
