American Idol star Hollie Cavanagh will return home to McKinney this weekend, and the community is welcome to join city leaders in Historic Downtown McKinney to welcome Cavanagh with a homecoming parade and celebration.

The parade in Historic Downtown McKinney is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26.

Area residents are encouraged to line the streets to cheer and welcome Cavanagh home. Attendees are also encouraged to bring posters to show support for Cavanagh.

Cavanagh will perform songs from past rounds on American Idol at a concert on the Square following the parade.

“Everyone in McKinney is encouraged to come out and welcome our hometown American Idol, Hollie Cavanagh, back to our city. We are so proud of all she has accomplished and want to show our appreciation for representing McKinney to the world,” said McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller.

Mayor Loughmiller will proclaim May 26 “Hollie Cavanagh Day” and present Cavanagh with a key to the city at the event.

Streets in Historic Downtown McKinney will be closed to through traffic beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The parade route will begin at the intersection of Tennessee and Davis streets, proceed north to Hunt Street, turning left heading west to Kentucky Street and then south on Kentucky Street back to the intersection of Tennessee and Davis streets.

The stage will be set up on Louisiana Street.
