Art Events Featured Saturday:

Artist’s Loft – is celebrating SOFT ART!  Stop by and see fiber art demonstrations will be in full swing, stop in anytime during the evening and see all the excitement.

Garret Art Gallery – will be featuring Found Object artist, Jay Garrison. Jay works exclusively from his imagination (no sketches) and spends a lot of time cleaning and polishing the parts.  Nothing is welded and glue is rarely used. The result is a fun, interesting, and completely original display of mostly recognizable parts given new life in a home or office. He began this fun hobby in the 1970’s while working as a graphic artist. Now that he is retired, he enters his assemblages in five or six art shows every year. Jay enjoys having an opportunity to travel and meet people, as well as having an outlet for his creativity and free time, 2nd Saturday, June 9th from 7-10pm.

Imaging on the Square – is featuring several local artists, showcasing their many different mixes and mediums throughout the evening. There will also be a live music by Stacey Whistson throughout the evening.

Laura Moore Fine Art Studios – As Laura Moore prepared for her artist-in-residency in Paris, France, she has been reminiscing about wandering the streets of Paris. Those thoughts influenced her latest series. The exhibition "Habitant de Paris," featuring realistic watercolor paintings that dissolve into abstract works, will debut Saturday, June 9 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Laura Moore Fine Art Studios, 107 S. Tennessee. Moore revisits in watercolor the places in Paris that are most clearly etched in her mind. She tends to be drawn to the grittier aspects of Paris and enjoys the juxtaposition of modern elements (like graffiti) between centuries old architecture. The show features watercolors that incorporate text, realism, architectural details and abstract elements to form memories of Moore's favorite Parisian scenes.

Orisons Fine Art & Framing Gallery – will host a reception for Kristine Byars, Kim Englishbee, and Barbara Mason. These three women participated in the April "Art in the Making" event in conjunction with Arts in Bloom. They enjoyed their day in McKinney, and received a very favorable response from our clients. Byars is an accomplished artist widely exhibited in the DFW Metroplex. Her bright colors and cleverly cropped compositions give her western imagery an award-winning edge.

Byars' art will be featured on the poster of Chestnut Square's new Cowboy Days celebration this fall.

Whether of livestock or landscapes, Englishbee's carefully crafted paintings draw the viewer into an elegant spaciousness that grants her subject a unique preeminence.

Mason's innovative watercolors sometimes include a literal cut edge, making her florals dimensional.  (Must see in person to appreciate!)  Mason's pastels are lush, richly colored with surprising elements.

Join Orisons Fine Art in celebrating original art during the Second Saturday Arts Reception, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mason will be demonstrating outside the gallery during the early part of the evening.

Main Street Magic & Fun Company – Join us for our Cabaret Style Magic Show at 7 p.m. (for adults & children) or 9 p.m. (adults only) in Magic Attic Theater. Tickets are only $10 and include a complimentary glass of wine for those 21 and older. Seating is very limited so call 214-274-7802 to reserve your tickets.
