Jason Castro, the third-place runner-up on season seven of American Idol, will visit Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church in Allen on Sunday, Aug. 26 during a back-to-school bash at the church.

The American Idol semi-finalist will lead worship at the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services and then perform at 6 p.m. at the church. Concert tickets are $5 if purchased online and $8 at the door. The concert will benefit church missions.

Castro won over millions of viewers on the seventh season of American Idol "with his rich tenor voice, distinctive looks, and endearingly innocent charm" and then parlayed his "substantial singer-songwriter appeal into a third-place runner-up finish," according to his website.

"He may not have won the competition, but the 22-year-old Texan earned himself a devoted fan base eager to hear what he would do once freed to perform his own songs," according to his website.

Castro is now known as an acoustic/folk-pop/contemporary Christian singer-songwriter, and he has a recording contract with Atlantic Records.

His album titled "Who I Am" was released in spring 2010, and an EP titled "Live From Studio 1290" was also released in 2010.
