Civil War Living Historians of Collin County and the Allen Heritage Guild will host an encampment at the Allen Heritage Village on Sept. 22-23 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War.
Each day, the Heritage Village will be a small village captured by the Yankees and then recaptured by the Confederates.
The public is invited to view and learn about the life of a typical Civil War soldier, both Union and Confederate.
The Living Historians will answer questions about the period. Other highlights include campfires, drilling practices, bayonet exercises, a medical tent, soap making and blacksmith demonstrations.
A pie-baking contest will be held Saturday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. In addition, the Guild will sell barbeque at noon Saturday, Sept. 22.
At 7:30 p.m. Sept. 22, stories will be told around a campfire.
Heritage Park is located at 1230 S. Aylesbury, at the intersection of Aylesbury and Heritage Parkway in Allen, 75002.
