April Showers
Bring May Flowers
Color Transfer Photography by Brian J. Magnuson

The Martin Place Gallery in McKinney is pleased to present Brian J. Magnuson's new work, "April Showers Bring May Flowers" through Tuesday, May 31. This exhibition is the highly anticipated follow up of last seasons "Birds of Texas" that generated a lot of excitement, with Brian's unique transfer process. This showing is of glorious painterly like color photographs which awakens the senses, after the gloomy months of winter.

A last call event with Magnuson will be held Saturday, May 28, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. He will demonstrate his photo transfer technique at 7:30 p.m.

Magnuson presents a unique vision and illustrates command of a wily process that offers a finished photograph that has a look of its own. They are soft, delicate, intimate photographs that have a distressed look which excites the eye. The series comes from Thomas Tusser's line "Sweet April showers spring forth May flowers," which stimulates the idea of a great hope. Hard times of life, when endured, will bring forth life's beauty.

Brian J. Magnuson is from McKinney and is a traditionally trained darkroom photographer that blends traditional knowledge with the digital medium. Brian has held many one-man shows across America as well as been included in several group showings. His work has been featured on Good Morning Oklahoma television program, Art in America, and The Dallas Morning News' Guide section as well as many other publications.
