The McKinney Performing Arts Center in the heart of Historic Downtown McKinney has long offered unforgettable experiences. Now, the arts center has undertaken an effort to provide first-class customer service with a staff member who serves as a guest concierge.

“The McKinney Performing Arts Center recently embarked on a new program, specifically centered around providing a positive customer experience the first time and every time that our visitors enter our facility,” explains Ty Lake, Director of the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) and Main Street at the City of McKinney.

“The guest services role is a result of a wonderful partnership with Experience Works, part of the U.S. Department of Labor’s ‘Senior Community Service Employment Program,’” Lake says.

As a host agency for the employment program, MPAC was assigned a participant, Valerie Phelan, to assist with guest services up to 20 hours per week during peak times. All funding for the project is provided by Experience Works.

“Valerie joined the MPAC team and assists us with greeting visitors, answering questions, providing facility tours and offering information about downtown businesses and services,” Lake says.

The staffer also assists McKinney Main Street’s informationsharing ventures through communications and the distribution of promotional materials.

“We are fortunate to partner with Experience Works, and Valerie has been a wonderful asset to the organization,” Lake says. “We look forward to our ongoing partnership and being able to provide our guest services partners a home as the program continues and new customer service representatives help us maintain our goal of achieving the true art in service – our customer experience.”
