McKINNEY (March 31, 2016) — McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) asks for your help to make the Courtroom Theater seats a comfortable experience for all patrons. The Best Seat in the House fundraiser aims to replace worn seat cushions with new, custom-made seat cushions. The goal is to raise $9,000 beginning Friday, April 1 and ending on Monday, May 30.

MPAC has launched a fundraising campaign to purchase durable and long-lasting theater seat cushions custom-designed to fit the original courtroom theater seats from 1927. The design will preserve the look and historic integrity of the Old Collin County Courthouse while enhancing the comfort and entertainment experience of all patrons.

“Since the old courthouse was remodeled 10 years ago, there have been a lot of great performances and a lot of bottoms sitting in the seats,” said Amy Rosenthal, Director of MPAC. “We take great pride in our rich history and want to make sure everyone sits comfortably for all of the wonderful performances to come.

“We’re excited about an initial gift MPAC received from the Shuma family and a matching donation from CA, Inc. to kick off the campaign, leaving the remaining goal amount at $7,000,” said Rosenthal.”

All donations are welcome, but four levels of participation come with a bonus.

  • $350 – “Join the Jury” – Brass name plate on a chair, name on the website
  • $175 – Personalized name tag attached to a cushion, name on the website
  • $75 – Two tickets to any Friday Night Flicks movie and a popcorn voucher, name on the website
