Closures on Northbound U.S. 75 Frontage Road at Eldorado Parkway Went into Effect Early Thursday
Crews closed the southbound U.S. 75 frontage road and connecting ramp to Eldorado Parkway in McKinney early Wednesday morning, and workers will close the opposite side starting early Thursday morning.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) contractor working on the U.S. 75 expansion project will shift traffic on the northbound U.S. 75 frontage road into temporary lanes at Eldorado Parkway beginning at 12 a.m. Thursday, May 17, officials said.
This switch will result in the closure of the northeast “jug handle” exit ramp from the U.S. 75 northbound frontage road to Eldorado Parkway. This ramp and the north connection of Medical Center Drive to the northbound U.S. 75 frontage road will be closed for approximately five months.
Detour signs have been posted.
Northbound traffic will be detoured to Marketplace and turn left on Medical Center to access Eldorado Parkway. Traffic headed to U.S. 75 northbound from westbound Eldorado Parkway will turn left at Medical Center, right on Market Place Drive to the northbound frontage road.
On Wednesday, crews moved traffic on the southbound U.S. 75 frontage road into temporary lanes to make room for construction. They also permanently closed the northwest “jug handle” exit ramp to reach Eldorado Parkway from the southbound U.S. 75 frontage road. The southwest jug handle exit ramp from the U.S. 75 frontage road to Eldorado Parkway will reopen at 9 a.m. May 20.
Detour signs direct traffic to Eldorado Parkway and U.S. 75. Traffic on the southbound U.S. 75 frontage road is detoured to Craig Drive to Eldorado Parkway and U.S. 75.
U.S. 75 Project Details
The $106 million project will add two lanes in each direction on the U.S. 75 main lanes and one in each direction on the frontage roads, giving the highway a total of eight main lanes and six frontage road lanes between Spur 399 (SH 121) and U.S. 380. This is one of five projects either under way, nearing completion or just starting on the Central Expressway corridor through McKinney from SH 121 to Melissa Road. This project is expected to be substantially complete in the summer of 2015.
TxDOT thanks area drivers for their patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this vital project as soon, and as safely, as possible.
